About us

Mission

RegUNDO is the first civil organization dedicated to promoting legal deregulation and regulatory quality. We combine public advocacy, strategic litigation and specialized journalism under one cause: the defense of freedom and individual rights.

We work so that the principle that “everything that is not prohibited is permitted”, the foundation of modern legal systems, goes beyond the formality of paper and fully governs again.

The accumulation of rules, procedures and registries has inverted this principle in practice: what is permitted became the exception rather than the rule. National states and supranational bodies take it upon themselves to design the social order from above, through regulatory inflation and over-regulation. Our mission is to help reverse this trend.

At RegUNDO, deregulating does not simply mean eliminating rules. Deregulating means purging the legal system of harmful consequences and unnecessary obstacles, while improving the quality of the rules that must exist, until reaching a minimal, clear and efficient regulatory framework that makes citizens’ lives easier, curbs the abuses of institutionalized power and promotes the growth and consolidation of private initiative.

Our purpose is to help strengthen respect for individual autonomy and rights and to increase legal certainty, which makes long-term planning possible.

We also pursue our mission in the courts. Through strategic litigation, we promote a network of lawyers who, through amparo actions and other legal proceedings, challenge state rules and practices that harm individual rights, seeking rulings that set precedent and pave the way for future cases.

At the same time, we develop our own initiatives with concrete reform proposals: regulatory simplification projects, model bills ready for legislative debate and innovative tools, including new deregulation techniques and resources that measure the real cost of bureaucratic requirements.

Every rule we eliminate or improve is a step towards a different relationship between citizens and public authorities, less opaque and more efficient.

Our work seeks to influence public debate and improve state management. That is why we put our results at the service of the public and private sectors, for a better understanding of the real implications of regulations.

This is how regUNDO promotes changes with genuine institutional impact and helps consolidate a culture of freedom.
